About @FOXPOP

Elisabeth Liddell reports (August 2004)

@FOXPOP is a new venture for us. After FoxPop closed I needed to decide what to do about the two domains, the web space, the content and most of all the loyal band of contributors who had formed the FoxPop team. So several of the FoxPop team have come together to create a new concept, which will be very different from the original FoxPop, but hopefully it will develop its own distinctive character, and prove to be fun to be a part of, and also interesting to read. That is our aim! Graphic: Smiley face

We all maintain our own websites or Blogs, and post our articles, reviews and comments there. This means that there is no definitive, unified look and feel to @FOXPOP. We do have logos etc. for the group to use, but the choice is up to the individual member and his/her website. Similarly we don't have a planned schedule of posting - no monthly edition as we did with FoxPop - members post as and when they are ready. And the editing of articles/reviews is also in the hands of the individual members - so Mike Liddell's high standards for text editing might not always be met! But we hope, by using this much looser and more informal association of group members, to develop a structure that is more flexible and more resilient than the old one. By spreading the workload it places fewer demands on the Editor (myself), and frees me up to enjoy writing articles again.

And here a special mention must be made of David Lenton, who has bravely undertaken the task of acting as the @FOXPOP webmaster. He has designed the new structure to the main site, which enables us to bring all our efforts together, and make them all easily available to readers. He has designed the facility for adding readers' comments to the articles and reviews, and also the XML feed.

The main articles section takes you to the heart of the site. Here new articles are posted, with a click through to a sizeable summary. From there you can click through again to read the full article on the contributing site, and then return to the summary page to post your comments and thoughts on the article.

We have already reprinted all the material from the original FoxPop website from September 2002 to the present in the Archive web. There may be more added to this archive in time - but the workload involved will decide that.

If you like the idea of @FOXPOP then please join us!
